Cardinal Newman, Newest Doctor of the Church

His Holiness Pope Leo XIV has confirmed that St. John Henry Newman will be named a Doctor of the Church. When the former Anglican priest came across the Oratory in Rome, he was moved to bring the family of St. Philip back home to England, and from there began the rise of Oratorian communities in London, Birmingham, and beyond.

Much has been written about Cardinal Newman already, but for those who wish for some basic information on this new development,  New Liturgical Movement has published an article.

By God's grace and the prayers of St. Philip Neri, we'll be singing O Doctor optime for the first Oratorian Doctor on his feast day!

Saturday, July 26: 2nd Vespers of St. Anne

Saturday, July 26, 15:00 (3:00 P.M.)
 2nd Vespers of St. Anne,
Mother of the Blessed Virgin and
Patron of San Diego's F.S.S.P. Parish

Hebdomadary: T.B.D.

Join us in praying Second Vespers of the Solemnity of St. Anne, mother of the Mother of God and the namesake of San Diego's Latin Mass parish. After the Magnificat, another ancestor of Christ, King Solomon, is commemorated with the antiphon Unxerunt Salomonem, which was traditionally sung at the coronations of the Kings of England. This antiphon was especially made famous in Handel's Zadok the Priest. Come join us and pray in union with the ancestors of Christ, especially that the traditions of the Roman Rite may spread beyond St. Anne and across the Diocese of San Diego.
