Christmastide Vespers of the Holy Innocents

Hebdomadary: TBD
We are glad to announce that we will sing Vespers on every Sunday of the year at Our Lady of the Rosary in Little Italy. We are thankful to Fr. Joseph Tabigue, C.R.S.P., the pastor, for his generous hospitality. The level of solemnity of the ceremony will depend on how many of us can be present, on the availability of a priest, and on the feast itself. However, we can safely promise that we will sing the full Gregorian antiphons, psalmody, and hymns from the Liber Usualis. We will try to post a weekly reminder, but we will definitely inform you if the service is canceled due to circumstances beyond our control. Please come, spread the news, and join us!

Late December Events

 Sunday, December 21, 15:00 (3:00 P.M.)

Vespers of the 4th Sunday of Advent

Hebdomadary: TBD
The 21st of December coincides with the winter solstice, the longest night of the year in the northern hemisphere. Dawn never seems to come in a world enveloped in darkness. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the true daybreak and sun of justice, who has come to enlighten mankind engulfed in sin and will come again to judge each one according to his deeds.

 First Vespers of Christmas

Hebdomadary: TBD
In these times it is rare to hear Gregorian Vespers of Christmas outside of monasteries. Start to celebrate the birth of the Child-God with us at the church dedicated to His Mother!

Friday, December 26, 18:00 (6:00 P.M.)
1st Vespers of St. John the Evangelist

Hebdomadary: TBD

An even rarer opportunity is to be able to sing Vespers of St. John the Evangelist, since mention of the exile in Patmos is normally confined to a commemoration within Vespers of Christmas, sung through the octave. However, in a church dedicated to the beloved disciple, he takes precedence and Vespers of an Evangelist are sung. Come and join us in Encinitas! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
